Homes Near McCallum High School

Built in 1953, McCallum High School is the second oldest campus in the Austin ISD. Notably, professional golfer Tom Kite, and Wiley Wiggins, the longhaired baseball player and protagonist of Richard Linklater’s seminal Austin flick, Dazed and Confused, were both once students at McCallum High.

Today, McCallum strives for individual achievement for each student with a particular focus on college preparedness. It is also the center for one Austin’s finest adolescent educational institutions, the McCallum Fine Arts Academy.

Austin ISD’s Fine Arts Academy moved to the hallowed halls of McCallum High School in 1994 and has since opened its doors to students from across the district in both public and private schools. The McCallum FAA provides students a venue to pursue a focused and accelerated curriculum as a Fine Arts Major. They currently offer a focus on visual art, band, orchestra, choir, dance, classical guitar, technical theater, performance theater, and musical theater.

McCallum High School located near both the Allandale and Rosedale neighborhoods of Austin. It’s proximity to some of Austin’s hippest family neighborhoods and the Fine Arts Academy make McCallum a great choice for kids interested in pursuing art and a great location for forward-thinking progressive families.
